Welcome at Domaine Sicard

Domaine Sicard is situated in a beautiful multicolored and hilly landscape covered by small meadows, woodland and agricultural plots. In summer the fields are decorated with blond wheat and sunflower.

The renovated traditional stone farmhouse at an elevation of 320 m. is surrounded by 12 ha of accessible nature with beautiful views of hilly pastures. At 40 km. distance, the Pyrenees break through the skyline.

The gite is attached to but independent of the main farmhouse. Around the farmhouse and the abundant and wonderful garden, you will find footpaths by which you can discover the lilac, the honeysuckle, fig trees and much more. You may even spot a deer in the distance. In spring you will hear the cuckoo and the nightingale sings its beautiful song.

Pays Cathare

In this region’s beautiful landscape you may discover the impressive fortresses reminding us of the resistance put up by the Cathars to the Crusade waged against them in the 13th C. (Montségur, Peyrepertuse etc.). Little chapels and romanesque abbeys are dotted throughout the area (Fontfroide, Lagrasse). Bastides, villages built on a classical architecture with a market place and a belfry (Mirepoix etc.). Admire the “Canal du Midi’’ with locks, majestic trees and remarkable constructions of the 17th C. Taste the regional dishes like Cassoulet, Foie-Gras and Confit-de-Canard and visit the largest wine growing area in the world. You will be pleasantly surprised when tasting the fine range of wine.
